Writing Demonstrator 1-A and A & H Demonstrator 4-Rewriting and Performing the Declaration of Indpendence

Writing Demonstrator 1-Student Access:  All students should have equitable access to high quality curriculum and instruction.  Full implementation of a writing curriculum encompasses reading, speaking and listening opportunities. 

A-   Students participate in intentionally planned literacy learning opportunities to explore ideas and design products across content areas.  



Demonstrator 4 Student Performance: All students have access to an aligned and rigorous curriculum where instructional strategies are of high quality and inclusive, resulting in student performance at a consistently high level.



B) Students identify a purpose and generate original and varied art works or performances that are highly expressive with teacher guidance.  


Student had to re-write the Declaration and perform the written portion.  The videos demonstrate their ability to perform this document with a little guidance from me.

A & H -Art in the Social Studies Classroom/Cross Curricular Art Opportunities

Demonstrator 2: Aligned and Rigorous Curriculum: An aligned and rigorous curriculum provides access to Kentucky Core Academic Standards (KCAS) for all student as defined by state standards. 

C) The school curriculum provides opportunities for integration as natural cross curricular connections made between the arts and other content areas.  

As part of a Psychology Assignment (Project Me-See below) student were required to submit a mobile about who they are and what they like.  Mobiles had to be presented as well.

          You will have 2-weeks to complete this project.  The due date for it is Aug. 24. Please take the time to complete this assignment to the best of your ability. Incomplete projects will be assigned an incomplete grade. 250 pts.

1.    Me Mobile: These mobiles should tell the story about who you are just by looking at the pictures and things you choose to put on your mobile.  I will be hanging them around the classroom.  You will be given the opportunity to share your project with the class.

2.    One Hundred Goals: Type 100 goals that you want to accomplish in your lifetime.  (e.g. to travel to Italy before age 50). You will need to take 5 of those goals and explain in detail how you plan on accomplishing them.

3.    Self-Portrait: Draw a picture of yourself ten years from now engaged in the activity of your choice (this could be a picture of what you will be doing in 10 years.). You will not be graded on artistic ability however, please do your best. Be prepared to share with the class.


Bonus: 50 pts.
            A 10-15 minute video staring yourself. You will share with the class, your life. The video needs to tell of your life and your future.  Be creative and have fun with this one.  (No R-rated

Writing Demonstrator 2-C for Professional Development-Professional Organizations

‍Demonstrator 2. Participation: Teachers participate in writing specific professional development designed to meet their needs. All teachers participate in professional development focused on 21st Century Skills.


C) Teachers are writing leaders and communicators in the school and professional organizations.

In February and March, I attended professional development at KEDC in Ashland as part of learning more about the new Social Studies Standards as well as how to incorporate the literacy standards.

Writing Demonstrator Curriculum and Instruction 3-B and 3-D-Using technology to enhance learning in the classroom.

‍Demonstrator 3. Instructional Strategies: All teachers implement instructional strategies that provide quality experiences, variety of activities, and access for all students.



B) Students research information to seek a new or deeper understanding around a topic and demonstrate new understanding through products.

D) Students integrate what is learned when using technology with what they learn offline to develop understanding and communication.

After learning about the many effects of industrialization, students have been given an internet scavenger hunt.  Throughout the virtual tour of Ellis Island, students will learn about the life of an immigrant as they journey to America.  Once the scavenger hunt is complete, students will engage in a 10 minute reflection and discussion with the class as a whole.

Administrative/Leadership Support and Monitoring

‍Demonstrator 1. Policies and Monitoring: School leadership establishes and monitors implementation of policies, provides adequate resources, facilities, space and instructional time to support high quality writing instructional programs.



A) School council/leadership ensures that writing concepts are taught throughout the school and across the curriculum as established in policy.


‍Demonstrator 2. Principal Leadership: Principals are the primary leaders of all writing efforts and support teacher leadership through shared and distributed leadership strategies and actions. 


A) The principal enlists teacher leaders to collaborate, evaluate and reflect on impact of the writing instruction practices on overall student achievement in the school.

Arts and Humanities-Demonstrator 4-F PLCS -Demonstrator 4-H

Arts and Humanities:
F) Students are supported and encouraged to participate in grade level appropriate juried events, exhibitions, contests and performances outside the school.


PLCS:
H) Students are encouraged to develop and practice career and leadership skills through service learning projects, extra/co-curricular organizations, and/or student organization activities. Recognition is provided to students for their efforts and accomplishments.


Students have been offered opportunities to demonstrate their artistic abilities as well as their writing skills. I have a bulletin board in my room where students are invited to find information about the opportunities to win money or scholarships.
